The Optix Pack is the latest addition to the ever-increasing Muc-Off cleaning products armoury – the brand is clearly on a mission to launch a specific cleaner for absolutely everything, and this is for glasses, goggles and the like (although, as the instructions helpfully point out, not for contact lenses. Surely you’d have to be so crack-addled to try that that you couldn’t actually get contacts in or out of your eyes, but we digress…). Inside the Optix’s handy PVA pouch (complete with mini-karabiner so you can attach it to things) there’s a 35ml spray bottle of biodegradeable cleaning formula and a generously-sized microfibre cleaning cloth. Keeping it all inside the pouch ensures that it won’t get all wet and gritty, as sunglass bags kept in jersey pockets tend to.
Having swept through the entire BM eyewear quiver with the Optix Pack, it certainly does a good job. It even brought the LCD screens through which we view the digital netherworld up a treat, which is a bit of a bonus. You don’t need much of the cleaner – just a single squirt per lens is enough – so it should last for a while.
Ups and downs
– Works a treat, handy packaging, versatile
– One more thing to carry
Verdict
The Optix Pack certainly does a great job of cleaning things that you look through. Whether it’s worth carrying on rides with you depends a little on how obsessive you are about clean eyewear – we suspect that we’re more likely to leave it back at base and use it to give our specs a proper post-ride clean.
