GT isn’t a company well known for parts and accessories, but that’s starting to change. The helmet carries the same name as their 150mm trail bike ridden by Dan Atherton and it is keenly priced at £50, with a performance that surpasses the low price.

Style is so very subjective but there’s no denying the Force is a smart looking helmet. It’s well designed too, with 25 channelled vents to force airflow over your head. In this hot weather we’ve been experiencing lately the helmet works well to keep the head cool and well ventilated.

It offers a good fit with generous padding, and the removable anti-bug net lining the interior is a nice detail – there’s nothing worse than a bee or wasp deciding to take a closer look at your head, so I can’t say it’s a common problem personally.

The straps are easily adjusted, and the simple retention system is effective enough, though it’s not so easily adjusted on the move – it requires both hands to operate.

GT have added a handful of reflective stickers to the rear of the helmet for improved visibility, handy when riding home from the trails in the dusk of a summer evening.

It’s available in three sizes (S, M and L) and two colour schemes, the black/yellow pictured and a grey and blue option.
