Undoubted leaders in heart rate monitors, Polar has released the brand new FT4 and FT7 computers which are designed to be more stylish than the typical device and offer an easy introduction to training with heart rate data.
The FT4 (£75) keeps things simple with just the basic heart rate features to get you going. It shows when the user is improving their fitness, giving a clear view of when the heart rate is in the desired zone. It also counts and displays the amount of burned calories allowing the user to know exactly how much work they have done.
Meanwhile, the FT7 (£99.95) offers a bit more and includes such features as the EnergyPointer, which tells the user if the main effect of their training is fitness improvement or burning fat be indicating if you’re in the right heart rate zone for fat burning or improving aerobic fitness.
The FT7 also displays the amount of calories burned while training and, with the optional Polar FlowLink, it’s easy to download all your riding data.
“The new FT4 and FT7 from Polar make heart rate-based training simple, allowing the user to know the required intensity based on the purpose of their training,” says Liz Shenton, Performance and Training Manager for Polar. “These monitors can help you stay motivated, record data and set targets across a range of exercise.”
The new Polar monitors will be launched from October 2009. The FT7 will be available in black with either silver or gold and the FT4 is available in silver and black or bronze. All sets include a WearLink textile transmitter, and a quick guide.
