Cyclepassion – a female response to a man’s world

Well if you were stunned by last year’s Cyclepassion calendar then prepare yourself for even more flesh, pouts, and a small amount of bikes, as this year’s even raunchier edition is launched.

If you didn’t get a chance to feast your eyes on last years calendar just think sexy, scantily clad women draped over equally sexy bikes and you get the idea. Strangely enough and unlike all the males here in the RCUK office, I was more interested in the bikes. Even more strange is that the idea for this project actually came from a female. But I guess it makes sense when you hear where the creator, Anke is coming from…

The original motivation for this project is self-defence. Anke Wilken is the wife of a frenetic, obsessed cyclist who spends any and all of his free time on a bike. Being surrounded by nothing but bikes, bikers, bike magazines and bike parts, Anke felt she would sooner or later become a bike widow – fast losing ground to her husband’s love affair with the wheeling sport. Being confronted with the topic, her husband had argued, that beauty solely lies in the engineering and technical aspects of a bike.

Initiating the first exclusive female cycle calendar, Anke’s hope is to challenge her husband’s view for the whole year 2007, spicing up the cycling world with a female touch of beauty and passion beyond the spoke and wheel.

Supported by the following companies: Continental, Scott, Bianchi, Quantec, Tune and Look/Easton a stylish calendar was produced. It was quite a lot of fun, doing this.

The photos had been made in a period of 3 months at different places:

• Giro d`Italia (Italia)
• Adidas Slopestyle (Austria)
• More than 100-year-old Continental tire factory (Germany)
• World famous Erbach castle (huge hunting trophies collection) (Germany)
• Oldest hotel of Heidelberg: Hotel Hirschgasse (Germany)
• Angler club Mannheim (Germany)
• Rhine River, Mannheim (Germany)
• Flower Center, Mannheim (Germany)

Besides the models we could convince pros and famous people of the bike community to support the calendar project:

• Friedemann Schmude
• Timo Pritzel (very known, freeride)
• Didi Senft (tour devil, very known, a huge cycling fanl)
• Andreas Kromer (Triathlon, new comer, youngster)
• Andreas Böcherer (Triathlon, new comer, youngster)

The result comes with 13 pages of 40 x 68 cm 250g/m2 artificial print paper work,
sensibly wrapped and shipped in a hide-more-than-see-through metal-like foliage.

Cyclepassion offers an international calendar, showing the dates of the most important bike events for 2007. More information is available at
