Genesis Latitude 853 – Just In

Some time ago we revealed that Genesis had been working on a brand new Genesis Latitude 853 frame, and we can confirm it is now available: a sample frame for testing has just arrived in the office.

The new frame uses a Reynolds tubeset designed to be strong enough to cope with 140mm forks without the need for gussets, keeping the lines clean and still passing the necessary CEN tests. Both the top and down tubes are 853 DZB (Dual Zone Butting) triple butted tubes married to a 653 seat tube and up front is a 44m Reynolds 631 head tube – giving you total freedom in the fork you choose to spec.

And that’s the reason we’ve received just the frame, and not a complete bike. The brand, while it offers a nice range of complete bikes, is keen to remind readers that each frame is also available to purchase separately. So if you’re looking to build your own bike using the very parts you want around a suitable starting point, the Genesis Latitude 853 (or any of the other frames in the range) could be it.

We’ll be having a rummage around the office for some parts to put on it, and will report back once we’ve got it built up and ready to hit the trail.

Available now at £399.99 frame only (or a complete bike at £1599.99). More at www.genesisbikes.co.uk
