Increasingly-prolific guidebook publisher Bikefax has released its latest title, a 176 page guide to the best mountain bike trails in Southern Scotland.
It’s been produced in association with local guiding company MB7 – proprietor Iain Withers has an encyclopaedic knowledge of the trails in the area, both “natural” and purpose-built. The guide covers trails in the Pentland Hils, Peebles and the Tweed Valley, Dumfries and Galloway. The famous 7stanes MTB centres of course feature heavily, but there are also plenty of old-school epics amongst the 50+ routes featured.
A brief glance at the contents shows a healthy mix of stuff, from descriptions of purpose-built DH courses right through to a multi-day Scottish coast-to-coast route, so there should be something to float most boats. Full review soon, but in the meantime Bikefax’s Southern Scotland & the 7stanes is available now from bike and book shops for £16.95. More details at www.bike-fax.com.
