New companies these days are nothing without some backstory – if you’re just setting out, it’s very, very uncool to allow yourselves to be perceived as an actual business by the public, especially if you’re doing sloganeering t-shirts or something.
Fuel For Adventure doesn’t do t-shirts, but the tale of its inception – “While they were hiking up the Andes, Jimmy and Alex hit upon the idea of creating an energy bar made from natural ingredients that tasted better than the bars they were using at the time” – is along those kind of lines.
Following much development (in their kitchen, naturally) to perfect the blend of ingredients, Fuel For Adventure was created and released four energy bars, all made from natural ingredients. For added Guardian-reader appeal, two of them are Fairtrade accredited, too.
MuleBar Flavours include Chocolate Fig Fiesta, Pinacolada, Mango Tango, and Hunza Nut, with the last two the ones to pick if you only purchase Fairtrade products.
The company has also signed up to the 1% For The Planet programme, whereby 1% of sales will be donated to support environmental groups. The bars are £1.29 each or a box of 24 for £30.
