This summer will see the release of the Leatherman Tread, a multi-tool that is designed to be worn around the wrist as a bracelet.
The Tread is made from corrosion resistant 17-4 stainless steel links, each with two or three functional tools. This gives a total of 25 usable tools including box wrenches, screwdrivers and, perhaps most crucially, a bottle opener.
Whilst the tool is not cycling specific, it opens the possibility for a more cycling specific version to be developed in the future, particularly as links can be swapped in and out according to the users need. This also allows for the bracelet to be customised to individual wrist size.
The silver stainless steel version will retail for $150 (US), with the black DLC (diamond like carbon) version, pictured above, costing $200.
There will also be a version of the bracelet which includes a watch available in the Autumn of this year, expected to cost $500 for stainless steel and $600 for black DLC.
