The new Hope Race series comprises of four events that each take place at Lee Quarry, Lancashire, with the first kicking off this weekend (19 April).
A 4.5km course has been prepared, which includes tough climbs, fast open tracks, and loads of fast technical singletrack. The organisers are keen to stress that the trails “…are very technical in places and include a few points where they are quite rocky or exposed.”
Those familiar with Lee Quarry will recognise many of the trails. Much of the Red Trail will be used, plus a few extra bits of less-technical bits for the Have-a-go Hero’s.
Ensuring there’s plenty to race for, title sponsor Hope Technology has put forward some great prizes – a Vision 4 light, Tech X2 brakes and the brand new SP XC6 wheelset – for the overall series winners, including some nifty custom cut disk trophies.
Leisure Lakes will also be supplying prizes, with some £300 worth of vouchers up for grabs in the Racer category at each race including a first lap prime of £25. For the Weekend Warriors and Have-a-go Hero categories, Ride-On and Max Gear will be providing products and vouchers for the winners. There are also some fun prizes including a singlespeed trophy and crud catchers for the riders who can’t keep it clean.
Though there’ll be all the usual facilities such as toilets, first aid cover and plenty of parking, the organisers point out that there is no running water on-site, so it’s best to take as much as you think you’ll need for your racing.
