No Fuss has announced another new event for 2010. Already responsible for the popular Ten series (Ten Under The Ben, Ten At Kirroughtree, Ten More At Moray) and the clearly bonkers Endurance Downhill (six hours on Fort William’s World Cup course), it’s now added the Tour de Ben Nevis to the calendar.
The Tour de Ben Nevis will involve a 61km circumnavigation of Ben Nevis starting from Fort William. The course is described as “undulating and varied with river and stream crossings, climbs and long descents”. No Fuss is keen to promote the wilderness feel of the event, emphasising that the course won’t be littered with signs or marshals.
Although the course is a single continuous loop, it’ll be split into ten stages for the purposes of the event. Five of the stages will be deemed “Special”, with the opportunity to score points, but all of the stages will count towards the result – the winner will be the person with the fastest cumulative time and the highest points combined.
The course will include remote tracks, carrying sections, purpose-built singletrack and part of the World Cup DH course on Aonach Mor. It all sounds highly promising – more details and on-line entry at www.nofussevents.co.uk.
