Entries are still open for a couple of late-season cross-country enduro races if, like us, you’re hopeful the better weather will continue for another few weeks.
MTB Marathon series finale includes road sportive and Exposure Big Night Out
First up, on the weekend of September 15-16, is the fifth and final round of of the Chain Reaction Cycles MTB Marathon Series 2012 powered by Mercedes-Benz Vito Sport in Ruthin, North Wales.
For the first time in the 13-year history of the MTB Marathon series – the Ruthin round will be a triple event mixing up road and off-road riding.
The weekend kicks off with the VITUS Road Sportives on Saturday, followed by the Exposure Lights Big Night Out Night Marathon on Saturday night and finishing off with the four route options of the CRC MTB Marathons on Sunday.
If you also dabble in skinny tyres, check out the Ruthin Sportive event page where you can find out about the 45-mile standard sportive and 92-mile classic sportive.
Activities return to the dirt for the Exposure Lights Big Night Out night marathon (ELBNO). Introduced to the series more than half a decade ago the ELBNO tests the riders over a 40km long off road route which will pretty much ridden entirely in the dark. So strong legs but equally strong bike lights are a must.
Exposure Lights will be on site with their latest light range and also with their charging station, hire lights and probably even a few event special offers.
For further details on the ELBNO please check the Ruthin MTB event page.
Finally, for the last time in 2012 the four marathon courses of the CRC MTB Marathon will bring the season to an end. There’s a range of challenges on offer from a 29km long beginner and family orientated mini marathon, all the way to the full distance 80km marathon, with 55km and 70km options in between, so everyone should be able to find a day out that suits them.
Check out the Ruthin MTB Marathon page for more details.
XTM four-hour enduro brings fun racing to Surrey
The organisers bill this October 6 cross-country enduro at Hawley Lake Sailing Club, Camberley, Surrey as a fun four-hour enduro that’s great for all standards.
“If you’re a Pro then this ‘sprint’ 4hr enduro will be a training ride in-the-park, whilst any Enduro newbies will love the this event as an introduction to endurance racing,” says promoter All About Triathlons
You can enter solo or as a pair for the race, which uses a 10km course at Gibraltar Barracks, Camberley that uses woodland trails, single track and gravel tracks for over-taking, plus plenty of leg sapping, undulating heathland.. There’s an off-road duathlon too, so if you know any runners you can lend them your spare bike and watch them fall off.
Entry for the mountain bike event is £25 for soloists and £13 for each rider in a pair. Facilities include chip timing (pairs hand over the chip in transition) and an on-site cafe.
