Racing resumes in the UCI World Cup this weekend when both the XC and DH racers head to Mont Sainte-Anne in Canada.
It’s only been a short break for the downhill racers, who were in action in Fort William the other weekend, but it’s been a little while since the cross-country racers were racing in La Bresse, France. Way back in May, it would appear.
Currently Julie Bresset and Nino Schurter lead the women and men’s overall standings as they head to Canada. With the London 2012 Olympics looming large on the horizon will we start to see racers showing what sort of form they have? Or will there be some sandbagging?
Kulhavy has yet to put the rainbow stripes of his World Champs jersey on the top step of the podium. Either he’s had a bad start to the season (by the standard he set last year) or he’s saving himself. This weekend will serve as a clearer indication of where they’re at.
And perhaps more importantly, what wheelsize will win? No 29er has yet won a round of the world cup, with 650b and 26in wheels reigning supreme thus far.
Here’s the race schedule for the weekend:
