Trail construction at the all-new Kent Cyclopark is on track to be completed in August.
The 43-hectare Cyclopark, located next to the A2 between Dartford and Gravesend, will be three times bigger than the London 2012 legacy Velopark, with 6km of mountain bike trails, along with a 340m BMX track, 2.9km road racing circuit and a skate park.
Construction at the site is due to be completed this summer, opening for limited use through the winter.
A pavilion, which will be home to training and changing facilities, a café, community space and bike and equipment hire, is due to be completed in February next year, with the park set to be fully operational and officially opened in May 2012.
“With an estimated 9.5 million people living within an hour’s drive of the site, Cyclopark will offer world class facilities to enable the growth of the many different disciplines within the sport,” said project manager Laurence Tricker.
