There’s less than a month to go until this year’s SPAM Biking Erlestoke Twelve on Saturday May 26 so the organisers have sent us an update about how their preparations are going.
The Erlestoke Twelve is a 12-hour race that can be ridden as a team, pair or solo, while there will also be a singlespeed category, while two six hour races will also be run.
“Things are taking shape nicely with a great course, a wide range of prizes and some great facilities, all ready for the day,” they told us.

“Last year’s course was well received and we got some great feedback. However, rather than rest on our laurels we’ve been out adding some new sections to make it even better. It’ll be a seven mile loop, all off-road and consisting of nearly 50 per cent technical woodland singletrack.”
“We have sponsorship from Charge Bikes, Four4th Lights, Mule Bar, Giro and Red Bull, all of whom will be providing great prizes and facilities. This year we decided to give some of the main prizes as spot prizes so that people that never make the podium (most of us), have a chance of picking up a big prize.
Our catering is also top notch. We have Colonel Grumpy’s coffee bus serving up quality Guatemalan beans and anecdotes in the most characterful location you could imagine. On the food front we have Ian Luff’s Luff Bus (You may know Ian from the famous Drop Off Café at Glyncorrwg, which he used to run). “Red Bull will be providing a chill out area and their DJ Car to keep the party going all day (see http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pyxfc1kfI7E for details).
You can enter online before May 24, or turn up on the day to secure a place on the start line. More details at www.erlestoketwelve.com
