Over 300 riders hit the trails for Trail Break’s Summit 65 Enduro at Princes Risborough recently, but the Trail Break season really gets underway this weekend (8 May) with the first of the Southern 100’s on the South Downs near Chichester.
Starting in the village of Duncton on the north side of the Downs ridge, a 100km route winds up onto and around the Downs taking in a series of climbs and descents. The South Downs is well known for the 100 mile South Downs Way that runs along it’s length, and by looping the course over the high chalk ridge and dropping off of it’s steep shoulders, Trail Break reckon they “have created a true Enduro ride in the heart of the South.”
Alongside the full 100k is a 60k enduro option as well as two of Trail Break’s regular Southern Trail ride distances for those who just fancy a 15 or 25 mile ride. All distances will be fully way-marked, plus you’ll get a back up map as well and, if you pre enter before 5pm on Thursday 6th May, GPS files of the route to pre load too. The enduro routes will feature a manned feed and support station as well, to keep you fuelled and fit to complete the ride.
As at all Trail Break events, SIS will be providing free energy drink, and hot food, drinks and snacks will be available back at base, including the ‘best post-ride chilli in the business’.
The Southern 100 season rolls on through the summer, visiting Swindon for a Ridgeway 100 on 19 June, and then Woodcote, north of Reading for a Chilterns epic on 14 August. You can book up and get more information at www.trailbreak.co.uk or call 0118 988 6041.
