IMBA (International Mountain Biking Association) UK is holding its annual conference “From the roots to the Shoots” on the 10 September this year in the superb surrounds of the Tweed Valley – the heartlands of the 7stanes and Scottish Mountain Biking.
The conference is being held in the Tweed Valley to give delegates the opportunity to experience the extraordinary growth of mountain biking and some of the tremendous opportunities that exist to capitalise on its popularity for the benefit of riders, and the local community alike.
Learning from experts and practitioners alike the important theme of volunteering and its importance to the long term sustainability of the mountain bike boom will be covered. The famous Glentress trail fairies will show delegates what’s in it for them and what keeps them coming back week after week.
The importance of tourism as a driver for mountain bike developments is well understood, the conference will give important presentations from two massive projects, the hugely successful 7stanes and the equally ambitious 1SW, afternoon sessions will allow further in depth discussion and the chance to pick the brains of active practitioners and activists.
The conference hosted by IMBA’s CEO Mike van Abel is open to all, both as delegates to the conference on Friday the 10th September and those seeking to join us for longer with a range of accommodation available at the hotel for those travelling from further afield.
As well as the conference, there is the opportunity to spend a day on Saturday working with the Glentress trail fairies and joining local riders to explore some of the Tweed Valleys famous trails,
Conference rates start at £40 for IMBA members and £60 for others attendees. Accommodation packages start at £100 to include Conference, B&B and conference dinner on Friday night.
This conference will give useful insights to those actively involved in promoting mountain biking and participation, managing existing or planning to create new facilities, as well as those involved in health promotion and education.
