Dealers
around the country have been advised by Raleigh not to sell any of their
“Max” range of bikes fitted with Sync forks , due to a problem. The recall notice reads as follows…
RALEIGH
MAX Y ALLOY FS 21 SPEED RS
RALEIGH MAX Y ALLOY FS 21 SPEED EF
RALEIGH MAX Y ALLOY FS 24 SPEED EF
We have informed the component manufacturer, Spinner Industries of
Taiwan, of a deviation from specification identified in the sub-assembly
of the INSYNC forks fitted to the above models.
We are working with their UK agent to identify a straightforward method
to check, and where necessary, adjust these forks as quickly as possible.
In order to carry out such a check, and make adjustments, every dealer
will require an appropriate allen key. These will be supplied to you within
the next 7-10 days, along with full instructions for the simple checking
operation.
At that time Spinner will publish a safety check announcement requesting
customers to return these models to their supplying dealer for the precautionary
safety check. Other manufacturers (Lewway and Concept), who also fit the
same INSYNC forks, will similarly be involved in the Spinner safety notice.
Until this procedure is in place, we would request that you do not sell
any of the above models that you may have in stock. All new deliveries
from Raleigh have already been checked and certified in our factory, and
carry a green adhesive disc on the fork crown.
We appreciate your support and commitment for this programme to check
product safety, and resolve any problems quickly.
