PA News reports that authorities in the Zimbabwean capital, Harare, have seized bikes from hundreds of commuters in an attempt to force them to pay their licences.
The cyclists who had used their bikes to get to work had to walk back home after failing to pay for the council licences.
Unlike the UK, Zimbabwean cyclists have to pay a licence fee to ride their bikes on the city streets, it’s about £1 a year. The council will charge a storage fee of Z$10 (around 20p) a day for the bikes they have impounded.
