Well the fuel crisis had taken it’s toll on one of the UK’s
Premier cycling events in Scotland this year.



The SCU (Scottish Cyclists’ Union) have made a decision to postpone the SCU Mountain
Bike 2000 Downhill Scottish Championships, because of fears that the 200-300 competitors
would have found it very difficult, with the lack of fuel available throughout the
UK, to make the journey to Laggan, Nr. Aviemore this weekend, and therefore making
the event a complete farce.



With competitors travelling such great distances from all over the UK, the decision
was reached today at lunchtime to postpone Downhill Mountain Biking’s premier event
in Scotland.



This event attracts some of the UK and the Worlds top competitors, such as Crawford
Carrick-Anderson who rides for the Giant/Toyota Downhill Team.



A new postponed date has been set for 15th October 2000.
