More government cash for Afan Argoed bike trails

Afan Argoed country park near Swansea – home of the 9 feet trail which hosted the 2001 Worlds Singlespeed Championships – is getting a £500,000 grant from the Welsh Assembly via the Welsh Tourist board.
The money will be used over a six year period, to make Afan a ‘Special Tourism Destination’ area. Although the money will be spread throughout the park, the action plan being drawn up now acknowledges the importance of the stunning trail network built by the local Singletrack-mind club.
As a result new mountain bike facilities will include showers, bunkhouse accomodation behind the Visitor Centre complete with washing facilities and bike storage, terracing of and improvements to the campsite, a bike wash, and an improved cycle hire and MTB accessories retail outlet.
