Due for production this summer, Hope’s latest LED 8 light was being shown off at Core Bike (a cycle industry show for some of the UK’s biggest distributors) this week.
The new light builds on the existing LED range but there’s substantial improvements that should make it a light to blow all others off the trail. It reputedly pumps out up to 2500 Lumens on full power, through a combination of oval and round flood LEDS and four spots.
While the headline grabbing output figure is hard to ignore, there’s some really clever stuff going on with the light. On the top of the unit is an output and battery gauge displayed via a small LCD screen, so at a glance you can determine the remaining battery life.
There’s also different modes that the light can be switched between, so rather than the simple low, medium and high setting of most lights, there’s a ‘race’ and ‘enduro’ mode that configure which of the LEDS are used for optimum battery life depending on the style of riding you’re doing.
