Ok so as a nursery song it doesn’t quite have the appeal of the original, but as a way of making sure they put your favourite routes in we reckon it’s a winner. Jackie Birch from Aberdeen Forestry Enterprise has written to us asking for you help in developing mountain bike trails in Pitfichie forest.
If you ride in the area they’d love your comments on the proposals, or any suggested re-routing. See the map below for the plans as they stand (you’ll need to download the full-size version). Answers on a postcard to: [email protected] preferably in the next few weeks.
Before anyone starts grumbling about ‘why they can’t scope out the routes themselves’ they can. It’s just that most forestry employees are more knowledgeable about Sitka spruce felling rotations, and have no idea what constitutes good mountain biking. The Singletraction group up here are already working with the North Yorks Moors and foresters in Dalby on exactly the same basis, and it means we get really good routes rather than just random ones.
Get involved now and make the most of the opportunity, or at least be glad landowners are asking for our feedback rather than just trying to keep us out.
