José Antonio Hermida and Ralph Näf notched up their second consecutive stage victory at the Andalucía Bike Race to remain as overall leaders.
The duo claimed Monday’s opening stage and underlined their prowess by winning stage two.
Näf said: “That was harder and we suffered a bit more, but we are happy we can still wear the leaders jersey.”
But, in fact, it was two-time Olympic champion Julien Absalon who crossed the line first but the Frenchman doesn’t figure in the final classification as he is racing as a VIP, and only for the first two stages.
“I am sure next year a lot of foreign riders are coming, because this is a very good race to prepare the season,” said Absalon. “I leave with a very good feeling.”
Ruben Ruzafa and Iñaki Lejarreta finished second, while Kristian Hynek and Pavel Boudny took third and Kristine Nørgaard and Sally Bingham continue to lead the women’s category.
