Life is all about simple pleasures; the little things that make us smile and make getting through your day that bit more enjoyable. So it’s always good to find one of those little things that brings a smile to your face every day: and that’s how I feel on any morning that I slip my feet into a pair of Smartwool socks.
Don’t worry, we’re not drifting into fetish territory, the smile is down to the thought that has been given to the lowly sock. For a start there is the 4-Degree Fit, which offers support where it’s needed. Whilst most cycling socks offer a good fit, the supportive feel of these socks is something else.
As well as a good fit, you get all the benefits that wool socks can offer, they are warm, without ever feeling too hot and even on the occasions when your feet start to get a bit toasty you will be able to pull your feet out of your shoes after a hard day on the hill without experiencing the smell that normally accompanies this.
Not only this, but as these socks have rapidly become a staple of my wardrobe, they have on one occasion been used for a couple of days in a row and still remain comfortable and pretty odor free. Like any wool sock, they tend to feel a bit warmer when they’re wet too.
Verdict
If from reading this you think that I am a fan of these socks, and then you’d be right. While they are a tiny bit more pricy than some performance socks, they are considerably better than anything else that I have used and well worth the extra you pay for them.
If you needed any more convincing they are made out of Zque Merino, so you will also have some of the most ethical socks out there too.
