British downhill racing legend Steve Peat and Santa Cruz Syndicate team-mate Greg Minnaar recently scoped out the course that they’ll race at the world championships in Leogang Austria on Sunday, September 2.

Here’s a video from This Is Peaty. It looks astounding.

Or, if you’re an old-school cross-country wuss like some of the Bikemagic crew, terrifying.

That’s Minnaar leading, with Peaty wearing the Drift HD helmet cam  to get the footage.

The 2012 UCI MTB & Trials World Championships at  Saalfelden, Leogang, Austria kicks off on Friday August 31 with four-cross qualifying.  That’s the opener to a weekend of gravity racing, with four-cross finals on Saturday, September 1 and downhill finals Sunday, September 2.

The trials competition fills most of the following weekdays before attention turns to cross-country racing with the team relay on Thursday, September 6. Then there are two days of individual cross-country races Friday September 7 and Saturday September 8, before the first ever cross-country eliminator world championships  on Sunday September 9.
