We’ve just had an update from Schwinn 100 organiser Michael Wilkens who says “All preparations are running like clockwork”.
The Forestry commission have opened up more forestry trails and singletrack for the course for an even more varied feel to the epic Welsh circuit. An increased prize list including schwag from Parrot Performancewear, MBR, Limar and Gaerne as well as fodder from PowerBar is being stockpiled now at the Builth Wells HQ.
Although Schwinn US are filing for bankruptcy at the moment Michael assures us that this does not affect the race in anyway as all the title sponorship money has already been committed. Foot and mouth disease is also no longer expected to be a problem in the event area. To reflect that some people may have worried about the event going ahead given these problems, the team are allowing a longer entry period for the race, but it will cut off shortly and there’ll be no entry on the line.
So download the entry form and get yourself signed up right now, and we’ll make sure that Coach Potato gets you to the start line in the best possible condition in a months time.
If you can’t make this one – shame on you – but don’t cry too much as the Schwinn team are planning a whole series of events for next year, or as Michael said “this is only the beginning for Marathon Biking in the UK!!”
