The organisers of the Bristol Bikefest have just been in touch to remind us that the event is less than six weeks away and it’s looking like it should be as good as ever with a new base for the event and just as much food, music and bike riding as you like. We’re looking forward to popping over to the event to sample the classically good atmosphere and ‘festival’ happenings as well as taking in the sights and sounds of one of the country’s healthiest bike scenes.
Will you be there?

Less than 6 weeks to go:
Time has simply flown past and the summer is starting to make its first attempts to show what will hopefully be in store. With all the previous cold and wet weather it was easy to forget that the Ritchey Bikefest is now only 6 weeks away and will kick off on the 8-9th June on the famous trails of Ashton Court, Bristol.
So if you haven’t made plans for the 2nd biggest MTB event in the country, which combines great racing with the Bristol typical laid back atmosphere, then you better make sure you jump onto the entry page and secure your entry now.
What is going on over the weekend?
In 2013 the Ritchey Bristol Bikefest powered by Mercedes-Benz Vito Sport have secured the usage of the fantastic event location of Ashton Court, Bristol. But this year we also have something new. From this year onwards the Bikefests (as well as the Oktoberfest) will be located just a hundred yards to the South West on the grounds of the Bristol Cathedral Choir School. The new venue is on the edge of the existing course and offers fantastic changing, shower and toilet facilities, ample space for event venue and competitors and all without saying goodbye to our much loved Ashton Court course!
Both days are aimed at the experienced rider as well as the newcomer. We will have solo, pairs and teams of 4 categories on both days. All team sizes can be entered in the team open, team ‘old gits’ (average age of riders needs to be 40+ years) or single speed category (please note – no single speed category on Sunday). There are obviously mixed teams and pairs in the running as well. Exception to this rule is the 3-hour novice event will have teams of 2-4 and a solo category.
The Bikefest Course
Now going into its 2nd year of use the much loved Ashton Court course is getting better and better. Properly bedded in now in combines fast and flowy singletrack sections with all weather capability. So if you like your singletrack mixed in with open climbs and the perfect mix between gaining height and getting the maximum ‘pay back’ for it than this is for you!

Ian from the Drop-Off café will be serving food starting on Friday evening all the way through the weekend.
And for the eager riders out there we will have South West Sprint with us on the Friday night of the event weekend. Come along and show what you are made of…and if you are fast enough than you can win some lovely beers from the Bikefest bar.
