There are trails for all abilities at Drumlanrig

Drumlanrig Castle and Country Estate in Scotland is offering mountain bikers a 2 for the price of 1 deal in October.

The private estate, which is located in Dumfries and Galloway, has dedicated trails on 80,000 acres of land.

Drumlanrig is one of the UK’s premier venues for cross country racing and, with this 2 for 1 offer, admission equates to £2.50 per adult.

Since 2002 Drumlanrig has played host to the National Points Series and Scottish Cross Country Mountain Bike Championships.

The trails at Drumlanrig have been designed, crafted and cultivated over three years into a network of single track trails.

Whether those wishing to take up the 2 for 1 special offer are new to the sport or have many years’ experience under their belt, Drumlanrig’s mountain bike trails cater for all interests and abilities and vary in distance, gradient and landscape.

From gnarly ‘old school’ technical single track routes, to swooping family trails through the beautiful woodland, to quiet country roads, each route provides stunning views of the surrounding Nith Valley.

Drumlanrig Castle and its surrounds have been popular with cyclists for many years. In the early 19th century, Kirkpatrick Macmillan, the inventor of the first bicycle propelled by pedals, had his first job as a Blacksmith at Drumlanrig where he learned his trade.

Richard Riley, Drumlanrig Castle and Country Estate head ranger, said: “With the historical links to Kirkpatrick Macmillan, it is fitting that Drumlanrig is considered to be the home of cycling.

“We are extremely proud of the mountain biking experience we offer here and it is hoped that our 2 for 1 offer will encourage more people to take to the sport.”

In addition to the mountain biking routes at Drumlanrig, there are shower facilities, a bike wash, bike hire at Rik’s Bike Shed and the Stableyard Café.

Visitors can also take advantage of other attractions on the estate, including the Scottish Cycle Museum and 40 acres of gardens.

To take advantage of this offer, download the 2 for 1 voucher available from www.drumlanrig.com. The offer is not valid with any other offer and must be taken between 1st October and 31st October.
