Take a road bike! You can’t beat the buzz of descending a twisty mountain pass at 50 m.p.h.+ I recommend the Col de Croix de Fer–Grenoble side!

I highly recommend soft compound, 2.4″ / 2.5″ (preferably dual ply) tyres, set up tubeless – most people using inner tubes get lots of punctures! Ideally bring at least one mud tyre too, as when is rains it gets seriously slippery.

BTW: if you’re riding in the Portes du Soleil e.g. Morzine/Les Gets/Chatel etc, then be prepared for the marked DH routes to be in terrible condition and riddled with the worlds worst braking bumps as they haven’t done any trail maintenance this season

Never had a wet muddy trip to Morzine then?!!!! It’s definitely not always sunny in my experience.

What about mentioning the change in rules for drivers, they now need to carry a whole host of extra stuff in case they breakdown…have been reading a few reports of UK drivers getting stopped and fined as they weren’t carrying the required kit…
