Agree with Nant-Yr-Arian being on the list. It was my second home whilst I was at Aberystwyth Uni. Good for a quick blast, or a nice pedal. Nice trail centre facilities too. Recommend you take your camera too for the views and Red Kites!
.
On the other side of things, Llandegla is very highly recommended too (near Wrexham). It's man-made, but is great for times when you don't want to navigate and just want to have a bit of fun. Their Pump Track is a good laugh, but the skills area is a little wanting - but is a new addition, so will hopefully improve. Oh, and if you're not a vegetarian, their bacon sandwiches are good too.

It's always the way with these things but I would have definitely included ClimachX, apparently it's got the longest descent of any man-made trail in the UK.

If you're heading all the way to Brechfa, then Cwm Rhyader (sorry Welsh speakers if I've misspelled that!) is well worth a diversion. It's short but hella fun. There's good natural riding around there too, although it's a bit weather-dependent.

Penmachno is another great trail that seems to be a bit underpromoted.
