NEC Cycle Show 2013 – Paul’s World…

I don’t normally get to shows and as a result had no plan what to look for at this year’s NEC Cycle Show. I subsequently spent most of my time chatting rubbish about non-bike related subjects while searching for long travel 29ers…

If you’re headed to the NEC today or this weekend why not let us know your favourite bits from the show in the comments below? E-bike anyone?

Oh and by the way, if you are heading to the Cycle Show and want a discount code exclusive to Bike Magic, click here.

Anyway, here’s my brief look at some weird and wonderful exhibits. Expect poor iPhone photos, bad grammar and incorrect facts. Enjoy!

I attended the Cycle Show on Friday. I entered the show and immediately was confronted by the e-bike area and thought that perhaps I had come to the Motorcycle Show. This e-bike stuff certainly looks like it is going to be big, however I think these machines appeal to people who don’t want to be cyclists but are looking for some way to get away from the cost and frustrations of driving and parking their cars. Eventually I got into the real Cycle Show and there was some great and wonderful stuff there. The Cycle industry seems very healthy and the sport / pastime is now on the up and up with everyone talking bikes and nearly all levels of government supporting cycling in all its forms. Good to hear. I rode an e bike today was strange but made me think that they have a place.

Ditto to that…was there on Thursday and just like Eurobike, electric assisted mountain bikes everywhere. Not bad bikes behind the motors either. I’m testing out a Haibike electric bike next week, but so far around the carpark, jumping down stairs and riding UP them too, it’s a WHOLE LOT OF FUN!
