Howies launch Brenin cycle jacket

Share:

Following the news that the management at howies have bought back the brand from the much larger parent company VF on 1 January, the Welsh clothing company has just released a brand new mountain bike jacket, the Brenin.

We chatted to howies and they told us they’ve been working on this jacket for a while. It signals something of a return to the Cardigan Bay company’s roots which are founded in mountain biking, for those with memories that stretch that far back. This is the line in the sand then for the clearly reinvigorated company.

So the new Brenin jacket. Firstly it looks as stylish as any howies jacket we’ve ever seen, and its strives to offer decent eco-credentials, being made from 80% recycled polyester. It’s a lightweight number, and we reckon it should be just perfect for the spring (or right now if this mild weather continues).

The arms and side panels feature a stretchy material for unrestricted movement, there’s a zipped chest pocket complete with a slot for your MP3 players headphones, and reflective details on the side and cuffs.

We like how the whole jacket can be rolled up into itself when it’s not needed, or if you want to stuff it in your backpack just in case the conditions take a turn for the worse on a longer ride.

A sample is winging its way to us now and we’ll see how it performs. Availability is spring 2012 and it will cost £100.

Stylish on the bike but equally so off the bike

There's a decent amount of reflective detailing on the jacket, ideal for riding to work

So like most stuff from MOntane but about £40 more expensive?
