Charge Bikes 2011

Following the news of the Cleaver, here’s a look at the other new bikes in the Charge 2011 range.

Duster

During the early 90’s the only choice was steel, and the sight of skinny tubed XC bikes on the trails and lining up at local races was a familiar one. Not so these days, as aluminium and carbon fibre have taken all the limelight.

This is the basis for the Duster. The 2011 Duster uses skinny Tange Prestige double butted tubes , with smooth TIG welding, a gusset under the downtube and Ritchey-style dropouts.

The big change for 2011 however is raft of new colour options. Charge have taken inspiration from the paintjobs of bikes popular during the 90’s and used these to produce a raft of new colour schemes, from neon yellow to neon purple, each with contrasting coloured graphics.

There’s various colour schemes of levels of finish to choose from, with four models on offer, prices starting from £1,199.99 for the Duster Mid and rising to £2,699.99 for the Duster X.0. There’s plenty of SRAM components used, and even a Shimano Alfine 8-speed hub option – possible the perfect winter setup? – and each model is fitted with Charge’s new Spashback tyres, complete with 90’s amber sidewalls.

Read on to find out about the new Hob and Freezer cyclo-cross bike.
