Charge Bikes Cleaver

Some new bikes from Charge, which we had the chance to check out at the Cycle Sports Group show in not-so-sunny Poole last week. We didn’t let the rain dampen our enthusiasm however, with Charge putting out an impressive display of bikes.

Cleaver

New is the Cleaver, the result of Charge spotting a gap between its skinny XC whippet the Duster and the burly Blender, and realising it could be filled quite nicely with the new Cleaver.

The Cleaver’s frame uses a Tange Infinity double butted tubeset with the geometry designed to accept a longer travel fork than the Duster, with a 130mm RockShox Sektor TK fork slotting into the reinforced head tube. Think of it as a tougher Duster in the spirit of long-forked hardtails made popular by such bikes as the Cotic Soul.

The frame is finished with ISCG mounts if you want to single or double/bashguard your setup. There’s just one model at launch, costing £1,599.99 and built with the aforementioned fork, SRAM X.9 10-speed groupset, Truvativ bars and stem, Avid Elixir brakes, Kenda Slant Six tyres and Charge Chopstick seatpost.

Looks an impressive package, and it’s one we’re certainly excited about getting in for review.
