Bergamont Threesome SL 9.3 first-look
When the guys from Bergamont Bikes ‘dropped in’ last week we knew they meant business. How did we know that? The simple fact that they had made the effort to drive all the way from Germany to show us some of their new 2013 bikes was a dead giveaway for starters.

The overall ‘shape’ of the Threesome SL 9.3 looks good and you’ll be glad to hear that it passes the all-important car park test.

Bergamont have been a big name in German cycling for a number of years, but on this side of the pond we have barely heard of them. Why is this? Who knows, but now that the brand has a dedicated UK distributor in the form of Reece Cycles we can expect to be hearing a lot more from them.
What are their bikes all about? Simply put, these bikes represent value for money. Where they possibly aren’t going to contend with the big-boys in terms of out-and-out performance (although looking at the bikes we reckon they will certainly hold their own), the big wow-factor is the price. This 650b wheeled Threesome, for example, comes in at under £3,000.00 complete and from the shop floor – Bergamont aren’t all about mail-order like some of their rivals – meaning that after-sales service won’t be an issue.
Let’s have a look at Bergamont’s Threesome SL 9.3, the top-of-the-range model that will be available in the UK soon at an estimated retail of £2,999.00 (price to be confirmed):

That all-important number. Or is it? Time will tell. What we do know is that a good bike is a good bike...
30.9 seatpost leaves the door open for a dropper post to be fitted.
Lines and cable routing is neat.
160 post-mount but the bike comes built with sensible 180mm rotors and Shimano Deore XT brakes.
This could be a great UK trail bike and, more importantly, affordable too. Even this, the highest spec model, comes in at under £3,000.00
RockShox Monarch rear shock can't be faulted.

Tapered headtube with Cane Creek headset fits in with modern MTB trends.
RockShox Revelation 140mm travel fork matches with the 140mm rear travel.
2x10 gearing with SRAM X9 front and X0 rear derailleurs.
Chainstay length is 435 throughout the four sizes but the overall wheelbase ranges from 1127 to 1193. We'll have to let you know how it works out.
Keep an eye out for more about Bergamont bikes here on Bike Magic soon.

Nice looking bike to my eyes. and interested in the whole 650b thing.
You’ll have to have a spin on the next BM ride!
Boy! do they look the Mutz Nutz
Nice looking bike from what I can make out. Sort of a mish mash of Trek and Scott designs from the look of it. Be nice to give one a go and to see what the details are like. Good to see that even though it has a full SRAM compliment, that it appears to have Shimano brakes. A good thing in my book!
